ACTIVITY REPORT 2024

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

We support the Church where it suffers poverty, discrimination and persecution.

Our support for the formation of priests and religious (16.4%) and lay people (11.8%), which has always been one of our priorities, increased in 2024 to a total of 28.2%, accounting for more than a quarter of our total aid.

In turn, projects for the construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of churches and church buildings took up 23.6% of the funds, i.e., also more than a quarter of the total.

In 2024, we were once again able to guarantee the support of priests and nuns by providing them with Mass stipends (17.2%) and financial subsidies (6.7%), respectively. We allocated 23.9% of the funds raised to these activities.

In addition, in severe crisis situations, we mobilize to support the needy population with emergency relief measures. In 2024, such emergency measures were offered in areas where Christians are threatened by violence and forced displacement, comprising 10.7% of our total aid.

Dear Friends:

In presenting this annual report and informing you about the use of the funds entrusted to us, we act as true “Pilgrims of Hope,” in keeping with the motto of the Jubilee Year 2025.

In the midst of great hardship, this past year we encountered an incredible variety of examples of authentic Christian charity, and often also of heroic love of God and neighbor, whether in the escalating conflict in the Middle East, in the devastating war in Ukraine – now three years old – in Haiti – a country plunged into chaos and anarchy – or in African countries where jihadist violence is spreading and causing the expulsion, suffering and misery of the population.

With the prayers and donations of our benefactors, who also opened their hearts in 2024, we were able to offer help last year in more than 130 countries through more than 5,000 projects, and spread the light of hope with the fraternal embrace of the entire Church community.

The events taking place in the world and the dedication of many good people allow us to understand how good and evil, light and darkness, are in an intensifying struggle with each other. In this confrontation we must jointly direct our hope-filled prayers to God, the origin and giver of all good, light and life.

May Almighty God bless all those who contribute to making this organization a living expression of divine love and grace. I commend you all and your families to the intercession of the Most Sacred Mother of God, who is also our mother.

From you,

Cardinal Mauro Piacenza,

President of the Pontifical Foundation Aid to the Church in Need
