ACTIVITY REPORT 2023

We support the Church where it suffers poverty, discrimination and persecution.

ACN increased its support for the training of priests, religious and lay people – always a top priority for the organization – to 26.7% in 2023, which accounted for more than a quarter of the total aid provided.

In turn, projects for the construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation of churches and church buildings accounted for 26.8% of the funds, also more than a quarter of the total.

In 2023, we were again able to ensure the livelihood of priests and nuns by providing them with mass stipends and financial subsidies, respectively. We allocated 21.6 percent of the funds raised to these activities.

In addition, in severe crisis situations, we mobilized to support the needy population with emergency relief measures. In 2023, such emergency measures were offered in areas where Christians are threatened by violence and forced displacement, comprising 10.8% of our total aid.

“Lord, save us, for we perish” (Mt 8:25): this fervent plea of the disciples of Jesus Christ on a storm-tossed Lake Gennesaret could also be our cry for help today in view of the new wars and crises unleashed today.

In 2023 we witnessed unspeakable suffering: the misery and desperate situation in the Middle East, the war in Ukraine, the growing Islamist terrorism in Africa, the siege and persecution of many Christians in totalitarian regimes, not to mention the social, economic and religious problems afflicting our own countries.

It is becoming more and more obvious that we would truly perish if the Lord did not help us.

For many of our suffering brothers and sisters in 138 countries, an expression of his help and divine presence is the support that ACN has been able to provide thanks to the generosity of its benefactors. Donations have not diminished despite the current context of high inflation. We are grateful to see how God moves the hearts of our donors to become merciful Samaritans.

Many statements show that the priests, religious, bishops and faithful who receive such aid pray gratefully for and in the name of their benefactors.

To all of you who contribute to the success of this good work that brings God’s love to those who suffer, I bless you with all my heart and entrust you, together with your families and your prayers, to the protection of the Virgin Mary.
