An act of love, faith and hope for those who preceded us on the road to God

Make your offering to Our Lady of Mount Carmel

July, the month of Our Lady of Mount Carmel: A special time of intercession

The Church dedicates the month of July to honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel, patroness of the souls in Purgatory. She, a compassionate Mother, has promised her maternal protection to those who wear her scapular and trust in her intercession, especially at the hour of death.

The so-called Sabbath Promise, revealed to St. Simon Stock, states that Our Lady will deliver from Purgatory, on the Saturday following her death, those who wear her scapular with devotion, live in grace and pray for the dead.

“I, Mother of grace, will descend on Saturday after his death, and as many as I find in Purgatory I will deliver and lead them to the holy mountain of eternal life.” (Sabbath Promise of Our Lady of Mount Carmel)

With this hope, we at ACN invite you to offer a Holy Mass for the souls of your loved ones during this month dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Carmel. It is an act of charity that helps their souls to reach the eternal light and strengthens our communion of love with them.

Why offer Masses for the Deceased?

Marian Devotion: In July we honor Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who has been invoked for centuries as the Consolation of the afflicted and the Help of the souls in Purgatory.

Eternal Charity: Offering Masses for the deceased is the most perfect way to intercede for them. The Holy Mass has infinite value as a redemptive sacrifice.

Promise of Hope: Our Lady of Mount Carmel offers her maternal protection to the souls in Purgatory, especially in the context of the Sabbath Promise..

Spiritual union: The Church teaches us that we are one Body in Christ. By our prayer and sacrifice we actively participate in the redemption and purification of those who have gone before us.

What the Saints of the Church say

St. Augustine:
“Do not weep if you love me: your prayer will help me and bring me closer to the light of God.”

St. Teresa of Jesus:
“It is a great charity to pray for the souls in Purgatory, because they can no longer earn anything for themselves.”

St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori:
«The souls in Purgatory are the spouses of Jesus Christ and his dear friends. It is a just and holy thing to succor them with our prayers and suffrages.»

St. John Paul II:
“In Our Lady of Mount Carmel we find the tender and solicitous Mother, who accompanies the children of God on the path of faith and towards the house of the Father.”
