The Church in Syria is overwhelmed and without resources. They need food, medicine and blankets to help the population. You can help them have a shelter with food.
“The Church asks for “urgent help” to help the population that has been left homeless overnight.
The Church in Syria asks you for help to help the population that has become homeless in a matter of seconds and goes to the parishes, monasteries, schools and hospitals where they are being welcomed. “In addition to the lack of food and the very harsh winter, the cold and the snow, now the people do not have a roof, their house is destroyed by the earthquake,” explains Bishop Arbach. Many people spend the night in cars and even on the street.
A team from Aid to the Church in Need has traveled to Syria to analyze the most urgent needs on the ground and has immediately opened an emergency fund to, with your help, be able to provide them with:
Emergency Help
Food, milk for the children, water, blankets, sleeping bags and warm clothing.
House repair
The urgent repair of more than 600 houses that remain standing but suffer structural damage, so that families can return to their homes as soon as possible.
Syria: “Let us hope that the earthquake shakes and opens the hearts of the international community”
The Archbishop of Homs points out that the earthquake is the final straw to the extreme situation of anguish and need that the country is experiencing.
From Aid to the Church in Suffering we want to immediately help the Syrian people and the Catholic Church there: may God give them the strength to help and support the victims.
In cities like Hama, Aleppo, Yabrud or the Latakia area “there is real anguish at what has happened. This earthquake is going to cause even greater desperation than what existed,” says the Archbishop. You can help them after this natural disaster.
The Church asks for «urgent help» to help the population that has been left homeless overnight.
«In addition to the lack of food and the very harsh winter, the cold, the snow… now people are going to find themselves without a roof, with their houses destroyed by the earthquake,» he added, «so the most urgent thing is food and medicine.”
«Let us hope that the earthquake shakes and opens the hearts of the international community. Open the hearts of all world leaders to help Syria and not forget the human beings who are suffering. […] I ask you for many prayers to be strong and help the population»
Bishop Jean Abdo Arbach, archbishop of Homs, Syria, after the earthquake that has strongly shaken the north of the country and Türkiye.
«I invite you all, together with ACN, to do a work of mercy in every part of the world.»
