On Valentine’s Day, beyond commercial gestures, we invite you to deepen your understanding of love as a gift from God. “Love is patient, it is obliging…it bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). Through a special Mass you can present your relationship before God, seeking His blessing and guidance.
If you want your current relationship to reflect the love of Christ, offer a Mass to ask for the grace to live according to God’s will. “Let us love one another, for love is of God” (1 John 4:7).
Pray for the strength and growth of your relationship. “A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh” (Ephesians 5:31).
If you are engaged or have been together for some time, offer a Mass so that God will bless your journey toward the sacrament of marriage. “What God has joined together, let no man put asunder” (Matthew 19:6).
If you are looking for someone to share your life with, offer a Mass to ask for God’s guidance. “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
St. Valentine, born around 175 in Interamna Terni, near Rome, was a priest and bishop renowned for his deep faith and dedication to evangelization. During the reign of Emperor Claudius II, who forbade marriages between young people to strengthen his army, St. Valentine defied this unjust decree by celebrating marriages in secret, thus defending the sacrament of love.
His courage and commitment to the faith led to his arrest. During his imprisonment, he performed a miracle by restoring sight to Julia, the blind daughter of the officer Asterius, which led to the conversion of his entire family to Christianity. Despite these events, St. Valentine was martyred on February 14, 270, offering his life in defense of true love and faith in Christ.
His legacy lives on as a symbol of sacrificial love and courage in faith, inspiring couples and the faithful to live love according to Christian principles.
Father Isaac celebrates Sunday Mass in the Diocese of Mendi, Papua New Guinea.
By offering Mass, you not only bring your intentions before God, but you also help more than 40,000 priests around the world to continue their missionary work. “He who receives a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward” (Matthew 10:41).
“Offering a Mass for our relationship was the best Valentine’s Day gift. We feel more united and blessed.” – María and Juan
