Pain and fear grips Lebanon’s faithful as chaos and violence return to this troubled country.
Helping our suffering brothers and sisters
Thank you for showing our Lebanese faithful that we will never forget or abandon them. You can make a terribly difficult life a little easier for those who do not know where to turn at this time except to their Church and their religious. God bless you for never turning away from those in need.
Christians are on the run once again. But where do they go when they have no one to turn to? To the Church.
Monasteries welcome the displaced. Catholic schools take in those fleeing, as students try to learn from a distance amid the sound of explosions and screams. The Lebanese faithful, already facing poverty and economic collapse, now face an escalation of the war, with an ever-present question, “How can our lives get worse?”
Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) joins Pope Francis in asking for your prayers through this urgent appeal from Marielle Boutros, our project coordinator in Lebanon: “Pray for peace in Lebanon and throughout the region and for a just end to the current conflict. The wave of airstrikes against Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon is having a devastating effect on the entire population and may cause even more Christians to leave the country.
Help the needy when they need it most
You can help us support the Church in Lebanon by extending your compassion to those in need. Christians will need spiritual and material support as they face yet another obstacle in what has been a harrowing and now terrifying existence in their beloved country.
Food and shelter: For those who have lost their homes.
Medical care: For the injured and sick.
Educational support: To help children continue their studies despite the difficulties.
Spiritual care: To provide comfort and hope during these difficult times.
Pope Francis’ message:
“May the international community do everything possible to stop this terrible escalation. It is unacceptable! I express my closeness to the Lebanese people, who have already suffered too much in the recent past. Let us pray for all those who suffer because of the war. Let us pray for peace.”
«I invite you all, together with ACN, to do a work of mercy in every part of the world.»
