The congregation of the Holy Family has 54 sisters in Ukraine. They have nine convents altogether and perform a range of different duties, including running an orphanage, a retreat house and a centre offering psychological and spiritual help and accompaniment to those in need. They also work as catechists and sacristans in the parishes, while some work in the hospitals or care for handicapped children. Three of the sisters are lecturers at the Catholic University in Lviv. And since the outbreak of war, the sisters have also opened up their houses to dozens of internal refugees.
A particularly grave challenge for the sisters, however, is the sharp rise in the cost of basic necessities. Above all food, energy and fuel have become much dearer – in some cases even tripling in cost. At the same time the parishes themselves are scarcely able to support the sisters any longer. And so they are dependent on your help. Can we count on you to continue supporting these sisters?
Sister Ephrosynia Gojda, the general superior has written to us: „We give thanks to God for you, since your unwavering generosity has truly been a blessing to us over the years. Your constant support has made it possible for us to continue our mission with devotion and commitment and for our sisters to truly live their vocation.
We beg you to continue helping us with your generous donations, so that we can continue to offer our service in the future. We remain united with you and all your benefactors in heartfelt prayer. May God bless you all!“
We have promised the congregation €54,000, so that the 54 sisters can continue for another year, following their vocation and supporting the suffering people of Ukraine. Your generous support is helping these brave sisters to be light to others in the current darkness.
