Our Lady of Mercy is known as the Mother of Mercy and Freedom. For centuries, she has interceded for captives, the persecuted, and those who suffer all kinds of chains.
Today he also intercedes for us, so that we may be freed from that which oppresses the heart: sinner, resentment, dependencies, sadness, despair, and human anguish.
✨ “True freedom is freedom from sin” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1731).
By offering a Holy Mass through the intercession of Our Lady of Mercy, you not only present your intention to the Lord, but you also support missionary priests who visit prisons, celebrate the Eucharist in difficult conditions, and bring the light of the Gospel to those who are deprived of their freedom.
The Magisterium of the Church teaches us that Christ came to free man from the chains of sin.
✨ “Christ has set us free so that we may be free” (Gal 5:1).
✨ “Man is only truly free when he lives in God’s grace” (St. John Paul II, Homily 1987).
Our prayer, united with the sacrifice of the Mass, is the way to attain that freedom. The Virgin Mary, as Mother of Mercy, reminds us that no one is so lost that they cannot be rescued by God’s love.
Saint Peter Nolasco, founder of the Order of Mercy, gave his life to rescue captives. His example teaches us that faith is service and mercy.
✨ “Mary is the Mother of freedom because she always leads us to Christ, who breaks our chains” (St. Peter Nolasco).
By joining in this devotion, you too can be an instrument of liberation: first in your own life, and then in the lives of others through solidarity.
Priest from the Diocese of Nampula, Mozambique, offering Holy Mass for the intentions of the benefactors.
Virgin of Mercy,
Mother of freedom and refuge of captives,
look upon us with compassion in our struggles and inner chains.
Free us from sin, sadness, despair, and everything that separates us from your Son.
Intercede so that peace, grace, and the joy of the Gospel may reign in our hearts.
We offer you our intentions at Holy Mass,
trusting that your intercession will lead us to true freedom in Christ.
Amen.
